Pam Waite, director of healthcare workforce and NEONI operations, is a Registered Nurse with more than 30 years of psychiatric nursing and management experience of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric programs, including community outreach, education, and psychiatric home health.  A skilled facilitator and presenter, she uses her team-building and community outreach abilities to forge partnerships with the local community to improve the lives of patients and healthcare organizations.

Her work in NEONI involves overseeing the Steering, Education, and Legislative Committees; developing and coordinating new initiatives; and maintaining existing programs such as the NEONI Leadership Institute, Annual Fall Conferences and Legislative Forums. Waite is an active member of numerous regional and state collaborative groups. She also serves in an advocacy role with local, state, and federal legislators. Her rich background in behavioral health as a psychiatric nurse leader enabled Waite to plan and implement the Cuyahoga County Behavioral Health RoundTable, a collaborative membership of leaders from both the private and public sectors who address best practices in caring effectively and efficiently for those with mental health needs.

Waite came to The Center from EMH Regional Medical Center, where she was the Director of Mental Health Services and the Interim Manager of the Clinical Decision Unit from 2001 to 2006. Prior to working at EMH, she served as the Program Director of Behavioral Health Services (The Harmony Center) of Providence Hospital in Sandusky from 1995 to 2001. Waite spent 18 years of her career at St. Joseph Hospital (later renamed St. Joseph Hospital and Health Center and Lorain Community/St. Joseph Regional Health Center) in Lorain serving in various Psychiatric Nursing leadership roles.

Waite has professional memberships and affiliations with a number of organizations, including the Ohio Workforce Coalition, Ohio Hospital Association’s Workforce Committee, Ohio Hospital Association’s Behavioral Work Group, Lorain County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services, Pathways Counseling Center, and the Ohio Psychiatric Nurse Administrators.

Waite holds a Master of Science in Nursing and a Master of Arts in Health Services Administration from St. Joseph College in Maine. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services – Management Track from Baldwin-Wallace College. Additionally, she holds a certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse from the American Nurse Credentialing Center.

Pam Waite currently resides in Lorain with her husband, Dennis.
