NEONI: The Center for Health Affairs' Workforce Initiative
NEONI, The Center for Health Affairs' workforce initiative, is a collaborative of Northeast Ohio nursing leaders from both practice and academia. Its strength lies in its ability to bring nursing leaders, clinical agencies, educators and organizations together to address and seek solutions for healthcare workforce issues in Northeast Ohio.
Since 2000, NEONI has grown to include more than 200 nurses from 74 organizations and 12 counties. NEONI and its members represent hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health organizations, schools of nursing, professional nursing associations as well as other individual healthcare stakeholders.
Through grant funds, fundraisers and conferences, NEONI has developed, implemented and sustained a number of programs that continue to strengthen the healthcare workforce.
- prep2practice: An online tool used between students, healthcare facilities as well as schools that matches students with local healthcare career shadowing opportunities.
- ACEMAPP Clinical Placement: A web-based system used by clinical agencies, such as hospitals and schools of nursing to facilitate the process of scheduling clinical experiences for nursing students.
- Nursing Forecaster: A tool that allows for predictions to be made up to a decade into the future regarding the supply of and demand for nurses in the region, in order to assess future workforce needs.
- PERQS Center: NEONI’s Practice, Education, Research, Quality and Safety (PERQS) Center is an outlet for NEONI members to share knowledge and best practices in nursing research, quality initiatives and models of care to ensure excellence in nursing practice, education, research, quality and safety across hospitals, schools, long-term care and homecare organizations throughout Northeast Ohio.
