
Northeast Ohio Emergency Preparedness Initiative: Key Partners in Preparedness
The Center’s Northeast Ohio Emergency Preparedness Initiative works in partnership with hospitals, public health departments, emergency medical services (EMS), emergency management agencies (EMA), law enforcement, as well as other local, state and federal groups to help the Northeast Ohio region prepare for and mitigate against manmade or natural disasters. The mission of all in the Northeast Ohio region is to assure collaboration with key partners in preparedness efforts to protect and plan for overwhelming incidents that exceed local resources.
The hospitals and healthcare facilities in the Northeast Ohio region (Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake and Lorain Counties) who are key partners in preparedness planning include:
- Northeast Ohio Hospital Workgroup: comprised of primary contacts from 29 acute-care hospitals, public health, federally qualified health centers, emergency management agency, rehabilitation hospitals, behavioral healthcare providers, Academy of Medicine and American Red Cross representatives
- Regional Public Health Coordinator and health departments
- Regional County Emergency Management Agencies
- Metropolitan Medical Response System (5 counties)
- Regional Public Safety Group Coordinators (EMS, Fire, Law Enforcement, FBI, Coast Guard)
- Regional and County American Red Cross
- Medical Examiner’s Office
- Cuyahoga Emergency Communication System (CECOMS)
- Federally Qualified Health Centers: NEON Clinics and Neighborhood Family Practice Centers
- Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation
