Community Needs Assessment 2007

Community Needs Assessment

Understanding the health status and health needs of Northeast Ohioans is essential to the region’s hospitals.  That’s why in 2011 The Center for Health Affairs engaged The Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio (HCNO) to conduct county-by-county community health needs assessments of its members’ counties.

Through the process used by HCNO, primary data is gathered within each county using a mail survey designed with input from hospitals and other community stakeholders.  By using a core set of standardized questions across counties, in addition to those recommended by the stakeholder group, this project will yield regional community health needs assessment data across all of Northeast Ohio.

These reports not only provide crucial health information to the community, they also allow hospitals to fulfill the community health needs assessment requirement included in the Affordable Care Act.  Assessments are currently underway or complete for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lorain and Medina Counties.
