NEONI Workforce Initiatives

NEONI's Healthcare Workforce Initiatives

CHA promotes the regional healthcare workforce through its program NEONI, the Northeast Ohio Nursing Iniatitive. NEONI began in the fall of 2000 with a mission to address the increasing nursing workforce shortage.

Since 2000, the healthcare workforce initaitive, which mainly focuses on promoting health careers, has evolved and adapted to emerging trends and shortages. In the fall of 2002, allied health professions (laboratory, pharmacy, physical therapy, etc.) were added to the career shadowing program for high school students.

The healthcare workforce initiatve also focuses on:

  • Collecting and analyzing regional workforce data
  • Disseminating information, including holding an annual conference
  • Developing new projects or products to address current challenges

NEONI’s strength lies in its ability to bring clinical agencies, educators, organizations and individuals together to address and seek solutions to healthcare workforce issues in Northeast Ohio.

Because of the size and commitment from its stakeholder group, NEONI has been able to provide considerable impact in the recruitment of nurses and allied health professionals.

NEONI is a regional program of The Center for Health Affairs.
