The CHAMPS ODS Story
For 30 years, the staff of CHAMPS Oncology Data Services (ODS) has been working towards a higher quality of cancer registry data and a more educated and skilled cancer registry profession.
Prior to 2001, CHAMPS ODS was known as the Northern Ohio Cancer Resource Center (NOCRC), a service of The Center for Health Affairs, Northeast Ohio's Hospital Trade Association. NOCRC was the population based cancer registry for Cuyahoga County, providing outcome data to the community and member hospitals.
In 2000, the CHAMPS Management Services Board of Trustees took action to transition this program from a population-based regional cancer registry to serve healthcare beyond Northeast Ohio hospitals. And today, CHAMPS ODS serves a wide array of healthcare clients in 11 states.
What was once a population-based cancer registry for Cuyahoga County is now a leader in the future development of the oncology data field. Managed by Toni Hare, Vice President, and Loretta Lausin, Director, two of 28 nationally recognized-Commission on Cancer-trained Independent consultants, CHAMPS ODS is proud of its history and its ongoing mission to serve as partners in the war on cancer.
